Gingerbread House Decorating Party
Hosted by Counseling in Schools, over 30 families came out for a night of holiday celebrations including gingerbread house decorating, arts & crafts, and a community meal.

3rd Grade Visits The Met
PS 124 3rd graders took a trip to the Metropolitan Museum of Art where they received a guided tour of several exhibits and engaged in drawing activities.

Debate Team visits the Bronx Zoo
The PS 124 Debate Team recently joined other schools across Brooklyn and the Bronx for a trip to the Bronx Zoo! Organized by the NYC Urban Debate League (NYCUDL), team members explored the zoo to conduct research for their first tournament topic that will debate the harms and benefits of zoos. PS 124's team includes students from 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade classes and is led by Ms. Peña and Ms. Furman. Come cheer on all District 15 teams on January 8th at PS 456!

NYC Marathon Cheering Party
The PTA hosted the annual PS 124 NYC Marathon Cheering Party on Sunday, November 3rd! Families came out to sell coffee, baked goods, and of course, our famous cow bells! The event raised $1,600 to support engagement activities. Thank you to No Filter Coffee and Dunkin’ Donuts for their generous support.

Staff and students dressed in their spookiest costumes for the school’s annual Costume Parade and party in the school yard.

Fall fun at the farm!
Our 1st-5th graders had an exciting adventure at Green Meadow Farms in Brooklyn! They enjoyed the farm playground, picked pumpkins, and met all the farm animals.

Back to School Carnival / Carnaval de Regreso
Come celebrate the start of the new school year and Hispanic Heritage Month in the school yard! We’ll have bounce houses, games, latin dance class, food, and more!

Clothing Swap / Intercambio de Ropa
The clothing swap will happen in the school yard on Saturday, September 14th from 9am-12pm. Volunteers needed to sort. Only in season FALL donations accepted at this time.

D15 Project Based Learning Showcase
Two 5th graders were selected to present the 5th grade class’s project at the D15 PBL Showcase in March 2024. The project discussed NYC’s rodent problem.

Debate Team Competition
On January 19, 2024 PS 124’s Debate Team participated in the inaugural District 15 Debate Tournament. Our team debated on the topic of year-round schools against 7 other District 15 elementary schools. Two of our team members scored within the top 25 (out of 100): Cassidy Judd and Marlee Prows. Huge congratulations to our Debate Team on their due diligence in crafting their speeches. They all worked out practicing their delivery, asking questions, and providing rebuttals. The next Debate Tournament will be on May 2, 2024 on the topic of Outer Space Exploration.

Student Council City Harvest Event
January 11th was the Day of Service at City Harvest. Our 5th Grade Student Council went to help pack apples for more than 3,000 households!

Counseling in Schools International Potluck
The CIS team hosted PS 124’s International Potluck in November 2023. Families were invited to bring a cultural dish to share and to enjoy an evening of fun with other families, staff, and teachers.

Brooklyn PTA Fun Run
PS 124 participated in the annual Brooklyn PTA Fun Run hosted by NYC City Councilwoman, Shahana Hanif. Familes and staff showed up and showed off their PS 124 pride!

PS 124 brought back its Back to School Carnival this year! Staffed by teachers, school staff, & parent volunteers, families enjoyed carnival games, face painting, bounce houses, and more!
