After School

3K & 4K

P.S. 124 offers an afterschool program for 3K and 4K students. The program will be staffed and operated by our dedicated DOE personnel, and family-paid tuition payments will directly support the staff who provide this service. The program will run every school day from 2:35pm – 6:00pm and costs $5,000 for the full school year.

Counseling in Schools

Counseling in Schools (CIS) is a nonprofit organization that provides free on-site after school services to the school for grades Kindergarten-5th grade. The program runs from 2:40pm-6:00pm each school day, and offers a full-day camp during select school holidays. CIS has trained staff that provides homework help, health and recreation, SEL (Social Emotional Learning), and more. The in-school and after school CIS teams also collaborate to create memorable school wide events.

Clubs

Each school year, P.S. 124 aims to offer several free After School Clubs led by teachers or external community organizations. Stay tuned for information on clubs available during the 2026-2027 school year.

Past clubs have included:

  • Book Club (grades 4-5)

  • Chorus (grades 1-5; hosted by the Brooklyn Conservatory of Music)

  • Dance Club (grades 4-5; hosted by Notes in Motion)

  • Drumming (grades 3-5; hosted by the Brooklyn Conservatory of Music)

  • Math Club (grades 1-3)

  • Newspaper Club (grades 3-5)

  • Yearbook Club (grades 4-5)

Debate

Our Elementary School Debate Team (grades 3-5) is an exciting opportunity for students to explore the art of persuasive communication in a fun and supportive environment. This program is designed to foster critical thinking, research skills, and effective communication—all while having a great time! Students compete against other District 15 schools in NYC Urban Debate League organized competitions. The team is led by Ms. Peña-Torres & Ms. Furman.

During the 2025-206 school year, fifth grader Leonardo G. won 3rd place in the entire district in the first competition and earned 2nd place in the final competition of the school year. His teammate, Charles W. (5th grade), placed 9th in the final competition.
