After School
YMCA
The YMCA is a nonprofit organization that provides free after school services to the school/community for grades Kindergarten-5th grade. The program runs from 2:40pm-6:00pm. We have trained staff that provides homework help, health and recreation, SEL (Social Emotional Learning), and more. The YMCA also partners with the school and Counseling In Schools to create memorable school wide events.
Academic Programs
K-5 Academic Recovery for Literacy & Mathematics: Eligible families will receive information soon about sessions beginning in January.

Clubs
Beginning in January 2025, PS 124 will offer several free After School Clubs led by teachers or external community organizations. Clubs will be offered in six-week cycles. Offerings will include:
Book Club (grades 4-5)
Chorus (grades 1-5; hosted by the Brooklyn Conservatory of Music)
Drumming (grades 3-5; hosted by the Brooklyn Conservatory of Music)
Dance Club (grades TBD; hosted by Notes in Motion)
Math Club (grades 1-3)
Newspaper Club (grades 3-5)
Yearbook Club (grades 4-5)
Debate
Our Elementary School Debate Team (grades 3-5) is an exciting opportunity for students to explore the art of persuasive communication in a fun and supportive environment. This program is designed to foster critical thinking, research skills, and effective communication—all while having a great time! Students compete against other District 15 schools in NYC Urban Debate League organized competitions. Led by Ms. Peña-Torres & Ms. Furman.
